Putrajaya In Evening Light 2

I uploaded my previous Putrajaya photo in a local photography forum and this is the result after taking in the comments and suggestions that I received. This photo was taken one minute after the first photo, thus explaining the rich sky colour. The small size does not do it justice, click here for a larger version. Anyway, isn't it gorgeous?

Princess the Puppy Again

I took this photo to potray how fine and soft her fur is Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Princess loved it when I take her out for walks, I would hug her like a teddy bear as she rests comfortably on my arms. Unlike cats or other puppies I've had before, she never struggles when I held her like that. She trusted me with all her heart that I won't drop or hurt her, she's like my precious baby Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

While I was walking she would lift her head up and take in the scenery. Sometimes the soft breeze was too much for her and she would fall asleep right on my arms, awwwwww Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Our neighbours loved them too and would visit from time to time to play with them. When Princess was older she became a very active puppy, hopping around like a rabbit instead of running. Soooo cute!!! Once she and her two other siblings were too engrossed in playing that they accidently "murdered" my mom's young papaya tree by knocking it down and wrestling on it, boy my mom was furious Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Ahh, fond memories with the cutest and best-est puppy I've ever had Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

My (ex) Puppy

Meet Princess, she's a mongrel terrier. We had her a few years ago and this photo was taken when she was just one month old. After having a dog since 1995, I know that a puppy is cutest when they're exactly a month old, hence the photo. That day I was feeling very lazy and don't have the mood to take Princess's and her sibling's picture, but my mum kept urging me to. I'm very thankful with her persistance or else I won't have this amazing image immortalised :-D

Princess had 2 other siblings but she was my favorite for having that black pirate patch on her right eye. Besides that, I also love her cool, graceful and elegant personality (she doesn't make a mess at all during meals, its like watching a cat eat!) so I decide to give her that name she so well deserved :-) We only had them for two months because we can't afford to keep them. They were given away to my uncle's acquaintances in the city and I haven't seen her since. According to my mum my uncle told her Princess new owner is a nice lady.

A year later while visiting my aunt in the city I noticed her neighbour one or two houses down has a dog very similar looking to Princess(actually there were a tonne of dogs and puppies there), I asked my aunt about the neighbour and she confirmed a lady does live there and she really love dogs. I went to peek at "Princess" over the fence since the lady was not home and I'm almost 100% sure that the dog I saw was Princess from the patches as well as how her fur looked. She looked healthy, happy and well fed, that's all I need to know so I don't need to worry about her anymore :-)

Lastly, the photo was taken using my old 35mm film camera Canon Prima Super 105 (Europe model). In the Canon site it is known as Sure Shot 105 Zoom/Date (American Model). The camera was among the first autofocus and zoom cameras ever produced and you can imagine how frustrating it is for me to explain to people how to use my camera everytime I asked them to help take my /my group pic("Press the trigger half way, wait for the green light then continue to finish pressing the shutter. If not, the picture will come out blurry...") Back then, the normal cameras were no brainers where you just point and press the shutter. Gee I talked too much, this should be enough for today :-p

Edit: Oops, forgot to mention that the Canon was a year 1997 model.

Reflections

The tower in the photo is called the Putrajaya Millenium Monument. It was launched by Malaysia's then Prime Minister Dato Seri Mahathir bin Mohamed on 30th August 2003. During the launch a time capsule was placed at the monument and it will be read on the year 2020.

The design of the monument was inspired by Malaysia's national flower, the hibiscus. It has a height of 68m, 3m diameter at its base and a diameter of 4m at its widest point. The tower has carvings on its body to depict the nation's historical moments. Lastly, it also functions as a light house as it has a bright 360 degree rotating light that can be seen from alot of places in Putrajaya because of its location at the edge of a lake.

Someday I will go there again to experience standing at the platforms and take photos of the carvings ;-) For more information on this tower please visit this site. Its in malay though, thousands of apologies to my international friends :-(

A Trip to KLCC Skybridge

A view of KLCC park from the skybridge, 170m above street level.

Time for a long story (rant) heheh... I woke up at 7am today and reached KLCC at 8.30am thinking I'll beat the crowd but I was very very wrong. The ticketing counter was already full of people consisting both locals and foreign tourists in a "S" shape queue. Reluctantly I went to line up as well.

I end up lining up for 40 mins :-/ Boring, yes... But there were alot of cute tourists to ogle at so it wasn't that bad. They have pretty eyes ^_^ Click to see the hard earned ticket and the visitor pass (For those who wants to know how big my fingers are the ticket photo is life sized :-P) Since I went alone, they manage to squeeze me in with the 9.45am group which was about 30 mins away. While waiting for my group's turn we waited at the mini theatre room where they showed interesting infos about the construction of the twin towers.

When its finally our turn, we have to pass through a security checkpoint which is alot like those found in airports. After that its off to the high speed lift. The journey up 41 floors only took 41 seconds and my ears were uncomfortable from the change in air pressure. We were briefed once again at the skybridge before we were finally released to explore it :-D Apparently it is a double decker skybridge and the one open for public is the lower one. It also serves as an important escape route in case anything happens to one of the towers.

Some short movies that I took (Can only view with Quicktime Player)
Video #1 (2.86MB)
Video #2 (14.5MB)

We were only allowed 10 mins at the skybridge. Judging from the amount of people lining up for the pass everyday, that's alot! I learnt from Wikipedia that only 1400 tickets are issued daily on a first come first serve basis. The visiting hours starts from 9am until 5pm but the tickets are usually out very fast. Hence the long queue :-/ Before leaving the place I lingered at the waiting room awhile reading informations on the wall and trying out some of the interesting exhibits, like the tower sway simulator, the height scanner (At 158cm, the twin towers are 286x taller than me :-(( ) and the Tesla Coil lightning strike simulator.

Going up the skybridge is a nice experience (because it gives bragging rights hehe) but I will never do it again, can't stand queuing up like today again :-/

Parachuter

I learned from a local photography forum that a KL Tower Jump for Charity event will be held on the 1st and 2nd of October. I jumped at the chance because its the perfect excuse for me to finally visit KL Tower, something I've longed to do for years. It was a truly exhilarating experience for me to see the parachute jumpers leaping off the tower and free fall for a while before they finally release their parachutes. Honestly they look like suiciders jumping off to their death while doing that and I almost screamed the first time I saw it *blush* I was at the foot of the tower so the view was awesome!
