A car drifting competition held during Pesta Rumbia in Kuala Penyu at 9th July 2011. It was organised by Kinabalu Sportscar Owners' Club (KSOC). The daredevil in the red car had some insane driving skills and was the only one to smoke the tyres this much. Thus it was no wonder he was the spectators' favourite that day!

I've always wanted to photograph this place. The three level hills and mountains along with the straight road have captivated me for years. Not seen are the paddy fields on both sides of the road. Maybe one day I'll return to shoot again with my Nikon :-)

PS: Next time I'll drive further up to find a flatter part of the road so it will not look cut off again as in this picture.

The quiet Kuala Lumpur Station at night. The middle platform was undergoing renovation when I was in the city last November. It was inconvenient to have to walk the extra distance to the ticketing station at Dayabumi, but it was great exercise nonetheless :-p

KLCC Revisited

KLCC was the number one place I wanted to visit in Kuala Lumpur. When that wish came true, I used to hang out there every weekend just sitting at the park admiring the gigantic architecture. During my vacation to KL last year, I spent some time at the park paying tribute to the good old times. I still love the place :-)

PS: I still couldn't get all of the building into the frame even though I was shooting from the furthest end of the frontal park with an 18mm lens heheh.

I went for a drive today and when I saw this amazing view I just had to stop for a photo. Unfortunately the red coloured leaves are from burnt trees, victims of bush fires due to the long dry spell.

Then it finally rained tonight, although it was only a drizzle I am sure it had gladden many hearts :-)

I really like the old world charm of lomo photos. This picture was taken in low light, which probably explain the colour cast. It was the only picture in the roll coming out looking like this. Bonus points for the film flaw at the cat's foot :-D By the way, the Kodak Gold 200 is so inferior compared to Fujifilm Superia 200. I am not going to buy Kodak again >_>

Borders at Berjaya Times Square, used to be my favourite bookstore in KL. They were unique in encouraging customers to browse by preparing lots of seats and having unwrapped books. I love their bargain sections too and managed to get good deals sometimes.

Unfortunately, during my trip there recently I found out the two storeys store was downsized to just a single storey and it had affected the selection available. I was sad, it felt like I have lost a good friend :-(

A picture taken when I was going through an obsession with film grain phase, hence I set my D40 at its highest ISO rating and fired away. This photo was cropped intentionally to make the noise more obvious. The kit lens performed rather well, don't you think?

If the year stamp near the roof is authentic, this shop was built in 1939. It is still serving its purpose after 70 years, lets hope it can last another 30 :-)

The North Borneo Railway system has been stopped for years to upgrade the tracks. Seen here shrubs are starting to take over the railway. It is a pity they don't take the chance to put in another set of tracks, this way the frequency of the trains could be increased and it can be one of the main transportation for the people.

I also love the ancient trees near the station, there used to be more 10 years ago but they had been removed to build shops... What a shame!

I photographed my cousin's wedding over the weekend and this was my favourite photograph. Captured a split second when the bride was resting and unaware of the camera, I wanted to show the softness of her hands against the flow of the gorgeous dress :-)

I like the effect of cross processing but never really put an effort into applying it to my images. A quick search in Google landed me with this simple tutorial. Although it isn't very apparent like a typical cross processed image, the overall aesthetic feel has improved.

One of the benefits of living in a village is the wildlife. I shot this right off the balcony using a tripod and on camera flash. The macro performance on the lens performed quite well, click here to see the 100% crop.

Dragon Dance

In Chinese mythology the dragon reigns over water. There is an old wives tale saying whenever a dragon comes out (here in the form of a dragon dance), it will definitely rain soon after. Looking at this picture, it is hard to ignore that fact o_O
